A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Eyelet Curtains

E is for Eyelet curtains

Easy to hang and incredibly stylish eyelet curtains can be used successfully in most styles of homes. Like many ready made curtains there's a plethora of colour and pattern choices, along with a variety of different weight fabrics, although sheers, voile and medium weight fabrics are the most commonly used.

Eyelet curtains form their own wave effect pleats when open or closed. They're not as full as pencil pleat curtains making them the perfect choice for modern and contemporary homes. Looking their best when full length this style of curtain also looks chic when just skimming the floor – when too long the wave effect pleats can easily become lost.

A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Duvets

D is for Duvets
A fabulous invention which does away with the need for heavy and stifling blankets, duvets are now common place and there's a variety of different warmth (tog rating) for each of the seasons. However, a duvet on its own is not very stylish nor hygienic and that's where a duvet cover comes into play.

There's so many different plain, patterned, colours and designs available it's easy to find one to suit the style of your bedroom and your colour scheme. Go for duvet sets which have matching pillow cases to give your bedroom a sense of continuity and flow.

Lined Paper Cushions

These cushions with a lined paper, including the margin, reminded me of college. They're perfect for anyone at school, college or university and a great way to add comfort to student digs.

Sometimes it's the simple things in life which inspire us – for me these cushions would be a gentle reminder to get my paperwork sorted out – much nicer than being nagged!

This is Simply Beautiful

There's not many things that render me completely speechless but this is one of the most simply beautiful things I've seen for a long time. It intrigues me, I'm bowled over by the intracity, I stare and keep asking myself  “is this really an apple?"

If it is I imagine how it will changed within just a few days as it shrivels and changes colour...I hope it's not real because that would break the spell.....but half of me hopes that it is reality, I don't know why.

Beauty, expertise, master craftsmanship, labours of love, are just a few of the words you could use to describe the luscious red apple that has won my heart this week.

Beautiful Accessories can Make your House a Home

It's the finishing touches which make a house a home – the individual pieces that you've chosen because they have significance to you; maybe they remind you of a loved one, a holiday, a walk, a pet – basically anything goes just as long as it makes you happy.

Depending on your interior design style you can include as many or as few as you wish. For those extra special accessories chose a prominent position to showcase them in their best light. Keep dust away from intricate and delicate items by displaying them covered with a glass dome.

Take a look in the store to find some beautiful and affordable accessories for your home.

Accessorise with Style

They say it's the little things and the finishing touches that matter and that's certainly true within the world of interior design. Having a room without accessories is like having toast without butter! It will be bland, boring and barely palatable. When choosing accessories it's more than just gathering a few pieces together and hoping they add a little flair to a room, this approach rarely, if ever, works.

Selecting the right accessories can make or break the look of a room. You can be adventurous as you like just so long as you have a common theme and this doesn’t mean you have to have seashells in the bathroom. Look for accessories that bring interest and a different texture into the room. Look for pieces that will add height where it's needed and unless you're going for the over-crowded look deliberately try to avoid the temptation of adding too many pieces. Remember that items should be displayed in odd numbers, 3 and 5 are good for average sized rooms.

I love this intriguing plant, when I first saw it I thought it was a whimsical way to display knitting needles!
