Shabby Chic remains firmly on-trend
this year. It's a great way to style your home, especially if you
like seeking out little treasure from bygone eras. Don't be fooled
into thinking that a Shabby Chic bedroom is just a matter of
gathering a few old soft furnishings and accessories and throwing
them haphazardly into the room. To get the look you have to pay as
much attention to detail as any other interior design style.
Shabby Chic is also a great style for
those who not only like collecting bits and pieces of yesteryear it's
also a good style to go for if you're on a tight budget. With this
style you can sit old next to newer pieces, mix and match fabrics and
patterns – in fact if you want to achieve the look this is probably
the best way to go about it. Old bedding with a pretty lace edging
can make a stunning bedspread. Patchwork could also be used,
especially if you use vintage chintz and floral prints.
Pretty tea cups make beautiful dishes
for holding trinkets and jewellery, an old sewing machine stand can
be given a new lease of life as a bedside table – the possibilities
are endless, which is why Shabby Chic will be around for a very long
time in my humble opinion.
