A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Eyelet Curtains

E is for Eyelet curtains

Easy to hang and incredibly stylish eyelet curtains can be used successfully in most styles of homes. Like many ready made curtains there's a plethora of colour and pattern choices, along with a variety of different weight fabrics, although sheers, voile and medium weight fabrics are the most commonly used.

Eyelet curtains form their own wave effect pleats when open or closed. They're not as full as pencil pleat curtains making them the perfect choice for modern and contemporary homes. Looking their best when full length this style of curtain also looks chic when just skimming the floor – when too long the wave effect pleats can easily become lost.

A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Duvets

D is for Duvets
A fabulous invention which does away with the need for heavy and stifling blankets, duvets are now common place and there's a variety of different warmth (tog rating) for each of the seasons. However, a duvet on its own is not very stylish nor hygienic and that's where a duvet cover comes into play.

There's so many different plain, patterned, colours and designs available it's easy to find one to suit the style of your bedroom and your colour scheme. Go for duvet sets which have matching pillow cases to give your bedroom a sense of continuity and flow.

A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Cushions

C is for Cushions
I've decided to go for cushions under the letter C – purely because no home would be complete without them! They can be any shape or size depending on the size of your seating arrangement. The can be used purely for decoration, leaning against, snuggling into or hiding behind when watching a scary film – whatever the reason, and you may have more than one, you simply must include these interior design accessories in your home.

It's not only the living area where cushions can be used. Today's modern bedrooms also pile on a variety of different size and styles of cushion to give beds a trendy look. Boudoir styles are becoming increasingly popular, especially those which have a famous star or designer label.

Cushions are also a great way to add a variety of texture to an area; from knitted to smooth silk or those covered with sequins the humble cushion has become an important factor is achieving chic styling in your home.

A - Z of Interior Design Accessories – Books

B is for Books
There's an abundance of interior design books to choose from. Some date back years and are a treasure trove of information about part eras or decades, while others are specific in their content – for example Feng Shui, Colour, Design or particular interior design styles.

Whatever you want to learn or find out about there's an interior design book to help you. You may wonder why in this day and age you'd want a book about interior design when you can find virtually anything on the internet – well, for some handling a book is more engaging than reading online; flipping pages is another reason people prefer a book, the images are also a great addition to a book and yes, of course you can find those online too but somehow it's just not the same.

Take a look at the range of fabulous interior design books in my store and treat yourself to a little light reading and inspirational ideas to use in your home.

A - Z of Interior Design Accessories

Back from vacation and inspired by many wonderful things I thought I'd go through the A – Z of interior design accessories to show you some of the fabulous finds that you may just take for granted even though they're in your home.

A is for Accessories
Accessories are a fundamental part of any interior design. They're want makes our homes unique. Some people chose their accessories to remind them of special people or places, while others only use those which compliment the style and colour scheme of their rooms. Of course there are those who mix both together – it's all down to you what and where you use them but one thing's for sure homes just wouldn't be the same without them.

Accessories are also and inexpensive way of up-dating your home; think along the lines of new curtains, cushions and rugs and it's easy to envisage what I mean.

This is Simply Beautiful

There's not many things that render me completely speechless but this is one of the most simply beautiful things I've seen for a long time. It intrigues me, I'm bowled over by the intracity, I stare and keep asking myself  “is this really an apple?"

If it is I imagine how it will changed within just a few days as it shrivels and changes colour...I hope it's not real because that would break the spell.....but half of me hopes that it is reality, I don't know why.

Beauty, expertise, master craftsmanship, labours of love, are just a few of the words you could use to describe the luscious red apple that has won my heart this week.

Beautiful Accessories can Make your House a Home

It's the finishing touches which make a house a home – the individual pieces that you've chosen because they have significance to you; maybe they remind you of a loved one, a holiday, a walk, a pet – basically anything goes just as long as it makes you happy.

Depending on your interior design style you can include as many or as few as you wish. For those extra special accessories chose a prominent position to showcase them in their best light. Keep dust away from intricate and delicate items by displaying them covered with a glass dome.

Take a look in the store to find some beautiful and affordable accessories for your home.
