Week 2 at SW19 – Wimbledon

Week 2 of Wimbledon and I'm roaring encouragement to Andy Murray and Laura Robson – it's fabulous to see a couple of Brits have made it through into week 2. As much as I love tennis I also love the All England Lawn Tennis Association colour scheme of dark green and purple.

Originally the colours were blue, red, yellow and green but it was deemed that these were too similar to the Royal Marine, so the colours were changed in 1909 to the familiar dark green and purple.

These colour combination is also found abundantly in nature – lavender flowers with green foliage, sage flowers with green foliage the list goes on and on. If you're looking for a new colour scheme try green and purple – remember that aubergine and lime were very popular a few years ago so it may be wise to move away slightly from these to keep your home looking on-trend and fashionable.

Inject Style and Colour Using Cushions

If your living room's colour pallet is muted tones, magnolia, soft cream etc. it's easy to give it an instant up-lift using cushions. Choose those which have pattern and texture to give a new lease of life to your seating arrangement. For the floor patterned rugs are ideal and can be chosen to compliment or contrast the cushions, bringing a sense of harmony and uniformity to the room.

One of the greatest advantages of using this form of décor is that you can swap and change as often as you like without having to redecorate the entire room.
