Today is the 295th birthday
of Thomas Chippendale. Renowned for his craftsmanship as a cabinet
maker, interior designer and designer of furniture. His pieces are
exquisite and have been the basis of many different interpretations
over the years. His furniture was fashioned in mid-Georgian, Rocco
and Gothic. In 1754 he published a book The Gentleman and Cabinet
Maker's Director which was used by numerous cabinet and furniture
designers and craftsmen.
You can see many of his great works in
castles, mansions and houses throughout Britain. Anyone who loves
Rocco or Gothic design will take a second to wish this influential
designer a very happy birthday.
