The Official World
Goth Day site defines it as "a day where the goth
scene gets to celebrate its own being, and an opportunity to make its
presence known to the rest of the world.''
Although the day is
mostly about Goth culture, music, fashion and art it's also a good
time to be inspired if you want to adopt a Gothic styled interior.
The Gothic style
isn't new; it uses architectural designs from the past and places
them in modern homes and lifestyles. Don't be fooled into thinking
all Gothic interiors are black, dark places because they aren't. The
style uses influences from the past to create a rich environment
which is full of interest, style, patterns and designs. The colour
pallet is usually dark and the use of black furniture is prevalent;
gorgeous chandeliers, candelabra and a home which oozes style are the
end result if you get the look right. Be prepared to be daring and
dramatic and you won't go far wrong.
