t's easy to add an injection of colour
to your rooms – all you have to do is paint wooden curtain poles in
colours which compliment your curtains. Perfect for children's room
and ideal for giving your old wooden curtain poles a new lease of
life.
All you'll need some fine sandpaper and
your chosen paint colour. Use the fine sandpaper to remove any
protective coatings, polish or finishes that are part of the usual
manufacturing process. Once you've removed it all wipe the pole over
with a damp cloth and leave to dry.
Apply a couple of coats of your chosen
paint colour, waiting for the paint to be completely dry before coats
of paint. It may be easier if you use a vice to gently hold the very
end of the pole (the piece which will be covered by the finials) or
you could add a couple of screws, one each end, and suspend the pole
from a couple of hooks from a door frame or something which give easy
access to all parts of the pole – improvisation may be needed here!
Once the paint it dry re-site your pole
back at your window and re-hang your curtains. You could also paint
the curtain rings the same colour, paint them a contrasting colour or
choose to keep them plain wood. There's plenty of room for scope and
to let your own artistic flair make your poles bespoke.
