The 4 Most Popular Curtain Headings

Curtains come in a wide variety of styles, colours, designs and headings for you to choose from. You'll also need to bear in mind the type of heading and the advantages each offers.

Pencil pleats
This style of curtain heading is extremely popular. They can be used with curtain tracks or curtain poles. They're made with the heading tape at the top of the curtains. The tape has pull cords attached enabling you to pull the fabric together, forming a series of pencil pleats. The tighter you pull the cords the denser the pleats will become. Pencil pleats offer a relaxed look suitable for both traditional and modern homes and typically used on medium and heavy weight fabrics.

Eyelets
These are created using metal or plastic rings which are used to cover the hanging holes cut into the top of the fabric. They create a streamlined look with wide folds which fall into a series of wave-effect pleats. Eyelet curtains can be used with most fabric weights and look fabulous in modern and contemporary home. The gentle fold allow for much of the pattern to be seen even where they're drawn open, making them an excellent choice for fabrics with large or bold patterns.

Pinch pleat
This style of curtain heading is refined and elegant. They are made with a heading tape which creates a fan effect when pulled. Pinch pleats provide a tailored look making them the ideal choice for dining rooms or formal sitting rooms.

Tie & Tab tops
These are the most easy styles of curtain heading. As the name suggests loops of fabric are positioned at the top of the curtain. Tie and tab tops curtains can only be used with curtain poles or tension poles. This heading is great for sheer, lightweight fabrics and voiles. They perfect for creating a relaxed and informal look.
